Start Anew

Do you love playing Scrabble? It requires curiosity to scan your slate of letters and vowels and arrange them into possible words. It requires strategy to place the letters for the greatest score. It requires creativity to figure out how to play or add to existing words. There are endless possibilities…until there aren’t.

At a certain point, your tiles don’t work. You are unable to create words. There is only one possible move: dump all your tiles and pick up new ones to allow for possibility and opportunity.

These past several months have found companies exhausting their letters and vowels, recognizing parts of their company culture that no longer work. “This is how we always do things” doesn’t mean we need to continue to proceed that way.

Some companies recognize they can start fresh. Pick a new slate of tiles. Be open to changes to address the problems at hand and not rely on the existing ways. Culture design workshops can accelerate this. These leverage design thinking to solve pain points experienced by employees and engages employees in the process.
